Quotes to Consider

Dale Ralph Davis: “And what of the Christian who has stupidly and miserably failed his Lord? Should he not find hope in seeing that being cast down does not mean being cast off? Should he not rejoice that he can call on Yahweh even from Dagon’s temple?” (Judges: Such A Great Salvation, p. 192).

David J. Engelsma: “God does not tempt Samson, but He does lead Samson into temptation. He arranges the circumstances of Samson’s life in order that he sees and is attracted to the woman in Sorek. He then withdraws the grace that might enable Samson to withstand the temptation to love the ungodly woman and the temptation to betray his covenant calling to her. By His providential power, God brings about the fall of Samson. This is His just judgment upon His disobedient child and servant who would not heed His word. As is invariably the case with such acts of God, God causes Samson to be snared finally in the precise sin in which he had walked for a long time” (Unfolding Covenant History, vol. 5, pp. 150-151).
