John G. Butler on Exodus 33:19: “[Moses’] anger was an illustration of righteous indignation which we need to see a lot more of in people. So many folk can look at evil deeds and hardly get upset. Sin does not bother them as it ought. It ought to really enrage mankind, but it does not. One reason it does not upset folk very much is that they do not spend much time with God. Moses had just spent forty days and nights with God. No wonder he was upset with sin. If you spend much time in the Word of God and in prayer to God, you will not be very tolerant of sin either. Many of our churches have a problem dealing with sin in the church because only a few people live close enough to God to get upset about sin.
