As I’ve previously written on some book reviews, Rev. Hoeksema has long been a favorite of mine. A more consistent, dogmatic theologian, I’ve rarely found. In my opinion, he was the best biblical scholar of the 20th century. For some reason, I was pleasantly surprised to find that he could write devotional articles with deep, biblical insights, as in this great book: Communion with God. Usually systematic theologians and devotional writers are separate breeds. This God-blessed and courageous man was definitely gifted in both genres.
